Osmany and Marie-Lise
Our hosts in Cienfuegos. Osmany shared many stories about his life in Cuba. He was studying tourism at the university when the Russians left Cuba. He explained that from one day to the next, there was no more food available and that they only had two hours of electricity a day. He had one pair of shorts, one pair of shoes and one t-shirt that he washed every night, hung up to dry and proudly wear the next day. Today he is part of the new Cuban upper middle-class. He and Marie-Lise are generating income from their legal private bed-and-breakfast style business. This type of business ventures was not allowed in Cuba until recently.
